LEGENDARY COMPOSER, FLAUTIST AND PIANIST

Brian can’t remember a time where music was not playing in his childhood home. Songs and melodies filled his life from the start and lead to a decades-long career as a musician and composer. Here’s what Brian has to say about PureSound, the essence of the Widex sound philosophy.

MEET BRIAN

Brian spent more than a decade writing, recording and performing with US jazz and soul legend Gil Scott-Heron. His compositions are at the heart and soul of several Scott-Heron albums, including critically acclaimed “Winter in America” and “Pieces of a Man”. Brian has also worked with Earth, Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Will Downing, and Gwen Guthrie.

Brian’s love of music started in childhood

Brian started to write music as a way of expressing himself.

THE COLORS OF MUSIC

For Brian, hearing good sound is like having a good palette of paints. “You want to hear everything you can hear – from the highest note, to the lowest note,” he says. CHOOSING THE PIANO

When Brian was a child, he asked his mom if he could get a drum set. That wasn’t an option, so they settled on the piano. That decision led to a decades-long career in the music business.
